Marcom Global Update – Iunie 2014
The article reprint, Identifying Failures and Ensuring Quality of Plastic Materials, is now available. Published in Appliance Design magazine (April 2014), the article demonstrates the value of infrared spectroscopy for polymer characterization and failure analysis through case studies. This article was co-authored by Mike Garry, FT-IR Product Manager, and Jeff Jansen, Senior Managing Engineer and partner of The Madison Group. The article reprint includes our Thermo Scientific™ logo and company contact information.
DXR Disease Diagnosis and
Characterization Webinar Series
Jennifer Ramirez has been working with life scientists to develop webinars based on their research using the Thermo Scientific™ DXR™ microscope. This series on disease diagnosis runs from May 1 – July 17. Interested participants can pre-register to be added to our invitation email once registration opens. Find abstracts on the Raman webinars page.
Webinar series overview:
Diagnosis of certain diseases is often a time-consuming and subjective process, involving invasive collection of samples from patients, extensive sample preparation, and specialized training to accurately characterize the type and progression of the disease. Raman spectroscopy offers a non-invasive, label-free tool to rapidly classify disease states, with the potential to improve patient outcomes due to earlier intervention.

Thermo Scientific iD7 Video
The new Thermo Scientific™ iD7 diamond ATR accessory made its debut on the international stage at Analytica in Munich, Germany. Interviewed at the show, Dr. Mike Bradley provided an excellent overview on this accessory and the Thermo Scientific™ Nicolet™ iS™5 FT-IR spectrometer in this informative video. A new TURL, www.thermoscientific.com/iD7, to the product page is also live.
Authored by Dr. Mike Bradley and Forrest Weesner, the article Scratching the Surface of Paper Currency with FT-IR Microscopy was published in Imaging & Microscopymagazine (March 2014). The article discusses the benefits of infrared microscopy and the Thermo Scientific™ Nicolet™ iN™10 microscope for the analysis of counterfeit documents.
Our application note, Monitoring the Output of Pharmaceutical Hot Melt Extruders with Near Infrared Spectroscopy was published in the April issue of NIR News. We also have banner ads in the top position of NIR News & Journal of NIR Spectroscopy linking to our near infrared solutions at www.thermoscientific.com/nir.
